ATA Architects & Planners is a multidisciplinary design firm committed to creating exceptional and sustainable built environments. Working across multiple locations in the United States, China, and Chile, we provide comprehensive services in master planning, architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design.

Integrity​

Architecture and the environment, much like people, are living organisms. While they can be studied by individual classification, they always exist as a unified whole. We transcend the boundaries between disciplines, interiors, and exteriors to achieve design integrity and enduring quality.

Sustainability​

ATA is one of the earliest teams in China to apply sustainable design approaches and Low Impact Development strategies to built projects. In 2018, we completed one of the country's first pilot projects for the "Sponge City" initiative in Xi’an, China.

Background​

ATA Architects & Planners evolved from Austin Tao & Associates Inc., the St. Louis-based design firm founded by Austin Tao in 1980. In 2004, a representative office was established in Beijing, which has since grown into the primary office of ATA Architects & Planners. In 2008, Austin Tao & Associates merged with St. Louis architecture firm The Lawrence Group, Inc. ATA Architects & Planners remains independently operated. Since then, two additional studios have been established in Chile and the United States.
