Transportation management masterplans (TMM or PMGT) are tactical planning tools intended to promote the use of non-motorized means of transportation. In the process, TMM’s gather and distill large amounts of information regarding the territory and the transportation intended to be elaborated in subsequent phases -e.gr. the development of strategic transportation plans and/or the study of city ordinances. Porvenir TMM allowed two kinds of projects intended to elicit a process of urban renovation of Porvenir’s historical downtown: (1) It set a new standard for sidewalks and pedestrian crossings near existing schools, playgrounds and plazas, consequently prompting the renovation of a relevant proportion of existing streets. (2) On the request of incorporating bike trails within the historical downtown, TMM provided the design for the four avenues that surrounded the historical quartier, allowing the consolidation of a continuous and comprehensive circuit of boulevards.
